Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) will grow its Berlin Brandenburg base with two additional aircraft, to a total of 11, responding to what it termed "the latest market developments at the airport." Ryanair recently announced the closure of its base at the German capital, blaming high airport costs. Eurowings, the low-cost carrier of Lufthansa Group, said it "believe[s] in Berlin and, despite all current crises, see[s] strong prospects for the market," but appealed to the German government and the EU to lower the costs and create "internationally competitive framework conditions."
