Berjaya Air (J8, Kuala Lumpur Subang) has taken delivery of its first ATR72-600, the manufacturer announced in a press release dated May 20, 2026. 9M-BJA (msn 1733) is the first to be fitted with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional's new HighLine all-business configuration, seating 26 passengers.
The Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127XT‐M-powered aircraft was ferried from the ATR facility at Toulouse Francazal to Kuala Lumpur Subang, transiting through Cairo International, Jeddah International, Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta, Mahé, Malé, and Medan Kuala Namu between May 11 and 15, 2026.
According to the Franco-Italian manufacturer, the HighLine configuration received certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and Malaysian authorities early in May.
"The ATR HighLine cabin collection opens new possibilities for operators seeking exceptional onboard comfort while leveraging all the efficiency and operational benefits of the aircraft," ATR chief executive Nathalie Tarnaud Laude said.
The VIP-configured ATR will initially roll out on the Kuala Lumpur Subang-Koh Samui sector, before expanding reach throughout Malaysia, Thailand, Viet Nam, and Indonesia.
"Whether serving resort destinations or charter operations across the region, the ATR HighLine cabin allows us to deliver an end-to-end premium travel experience that reflects Berjaya's hospitality heritage and long-term vision," Berjaya Property Berhad group CEO Syed Ali Shahul Hameed said.
The business and charter operator already flies one ATR42-500, one ATR72-500, as well as one Global 5000, according to ch-aviation data. It has another similarly configured ATR72-600 due in the third quarter of 2026.
