Colombian start-up ALMA Air (Cartagena Rafael Núñez International) has received its first Cessna Grand Caravan seaplane as it moves forward with its certification process. It plans to obtain an air operator’s certificate (AOC) shortly and launch operations as the first commercial seaplane airline in the country in seven decades.

N710BH (msn 208B5186) flew from Fort Pierce International to Medellín Enrique Olaya Herrera via Nassau International, Ocho Rios, Panamá City Paitilla, and Medellín José Maria Córdova between May 21 and May 26, ADS-B data shows.

“We are into the final stretch ahead of receiving our formal AOC,” the carrier said in a statement on social media. According to ALMA Air, Medellín will be the company’s first base before moving on to Cartagena later in 2026.

In parallel, ALMA Air is working with government authorities and local municipalities to source the permits required for aquatic landing sites. Initial applications will include Baru, Colombia’s pacific coastline, Gautape, Ayapel, and Mompos, it said.
