MIAT - Mongolian Airlines (OM, Ulaanbaatar) MIAT Technics, the maintenance department of MIAT - Mongolian Airlines (OM, Ulaanbaatar), has completed its first heavy maintenance of a B787-9. The MIAT – Monglian Airlines aircraft was previously serviced outside of Mongolia while the completion at the facility marks the first widebody aircraft maintenance event in the country.
“This indicates that our employees, officers, and MIAT have become internationally competitive. It indicates that we will be able to generate revenue from aircraft maintenance services not only in flight operations, but also provide this type of service to foreign airlines. The company's management is pleased with this,” executive director, Telmen Tunsag said.
According to ch-aviation data, the aircraft that spent significant time at the MIAT Technics facility was the seven-year-old EI-MGL (msn 60326), owned by AerCap. It entered the national carrier’s fleet in 2023. MIAT – Mongolian Airlines’ MRO providers from the past include HNA Technic at Haikou, while MIAT Technics also works with airlines Jeju Air, Jin Air, AL!-KE-o, and t'way Air.
MIAT did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
