Riyadh Air (RX, Riyadh) has taken delivery of the first two B787-9s from its direct order with Boeing. The aircraft are the first two jets that the carrier will use for commercial service, as they will replace a trial B787-9 dry-leased from Oman Air.
HZ-RXAA (msn 69471) and HZ-RXAB (msn 69472) were ferried from Charleston International and Everett, respectively, directly to Riyadh on June 4-5, 2026. Despite ferrying from different Boeing sites, the aircraft arrived to Saudi Arabia in formation.
The two B787-9s are the first of a total of 39 units that Riyadh Air has on order from Boeing. They are configured for up to 290 passengers each, including 28 business class seats, 39 premium economy, and 223 economy class.
Riyadh Air's current only aircraft, HZ-RXX (msn 38892), was only leased for certification and test flights and is not intended to operate revenue flights once the airline launches scheduled flights on July 1, 2026.
The carrier also has a firm order for sixty A321-200NX and twenty-five A350-1000s.
