The former president of defunct Grande Aviation (Knoxville McGhee Tyson), Michael Grande, pleaded guilty on May 28 in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee to theft of government funds and failure to pay trust fund taxes. He admitted defrauding the Department of the Treasury's Payroll Support Program of more than USD400,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic and failing to remit USD127,184 in trust fund and reemployment taxes. The case was investigated by the Department of Transportation Office of Inspector General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation division.
