The European Commission has lifted a 20-year, nationwide ban on air carriers from Kyrgyzstan, in the newest update of the EU Aviation Safety List published on June 9, 2026. Kyrgyz carriers have been banned from operating in EU airspace since the introduction of the safety list in 2006. Kyrgyzstan's civil aviation authority recently suspended the air operator’s certificates (AOCs) of five local carriers, leaving seven active certificates in the country, as part of its drive to get the EU ban lifted. Due to failed safety assessments, Air Express Algeria was the only new carrier to be added to the list.

Carriers included in the EU Aviation Safety List are banned from operating to, from, and over the EU.
