Commercial flights at Vishakhapatnam are set to conclude once the new Bhogapuram airport is commissioned in late July 2026. This is despite significant pushback from civil society groups seeking to retain domestic flights at the former. Vishakhapatnam Airport is a joint-use airport located in India’s state of Andhra Pradesh, currently served by Air India, Air India Express, IndiaOne Air, IndiGo Airlines, and Scoot. Bhogapuram Airport was officially declared complete on July 7, 2026. The airport's launch was recently postponed from July 8, 2026 to the end of the month. Scoot is the first airline to announce it will be shifting its operations to Bhogapuram and offering services from the new airport.
