AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur International) changed its name to AirAsia Group effective July 2, 2026, after shareholders approved the proposal at its annual general meeting on June 25. The Companies Commission of Malaysia registered the new name on July 2. Earlier in 2026, Capital A completed the transfer of its aviation subsidiaries, including AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International) and AirAsia Aviation Group, to AirAsia X, leaving its non-aviation businesses under Capital A. The newly renamed AirAsia Group is now the owner of AirAsia and of AirAsia Aviation Group, which owns shares in AirAsia-branded JVs outside Malaysia.
