Deir ez Zor, located in eastern Syria, will resume scheduled passenger services for the first time in 14 years when Syrianair (RB, Damascus) launches a 2x weekly route to Kuwait on August 3, 2026. This comes after Deir ez Zor reopened for humanitarian operations on June 17, following a government-led rebuild of the airport. The airport closed to civil traffic in 2012 amid the escalating Syrian civil war and sustained significant damage during the conflict. As part of a network expansion strategy disclosed to ch-aviation, Jazeera Airways will also launch a 2x weekly Kuwait-Deir ez Zor route, on August 8.
