German Airways (ZQ, Cologne/Bonn) has completed the acquisition and financing of five E190 regional jets as planned, marking a key step in the carrier's fleet expansion programme, according to a market disclosure from parent company Kolibri Beteiligung GmbH.
The company said the financing, arranged with a specialist aircraft finance partner on standard market terms, complies with the terms of Kolibri's secured corporate bond issued in February 2026 and remains within the permitted financial indebtedness limits set out in the bond documentation.
German Airways said the acquisition advances the group's previously announced strategy to expand and modernise its regional aircraft fleet.
The ACMI/charter specialist currently operates a total of nine E190s, all but one of them leased from Azorra. Four are long-range, two are advanced-range, and two are short-runway variants, according to ch-aviation data. It added a ninth E190, leased from Executive Jet Support, in January 2026.
German Airways currently wet leases six E190s to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines' regional subsidiary KLM Cityhopper and two to Condor.
