Argentina’s state-owned ground handler Intercargo will cease operations at Comodoro Rivadavia and Rio Gallegos as part of a restructuring aimed at reallocating equipment and resources to busier stations. However, as no independent ground-handling companies currently operate at either airport, the continuity of services is now threatened. Aerolíneas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) provides its own handling and could potentially assist other carriers, although there is no official confirmation of this.

The state-owned carrier is the main operator at both airports, while JetSMART and American Jet (Argentina) also serve them and LATAM Airlines flies solely to Rio Gallegos. The Argentine government recently failed in an attempt to privatise Intercargo.
