Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) has called for chronic air traffic controller shortages at Sydney Kingsford Smith to be addressed after related delays affected around 60,000 of its passengers in July 2026, hurting on-time performance. Chief executive Vanessa Hudson said the impact had been significant, and the staffing issue needed to be resolved. Sydney has also recorded six recent safety incidents involving at least one Qantas or Jetstar Airways aircraft. Hudson said Qantas remained confident the airport was operating safely but supported regulatory investigation of the incidents.
