The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a USD260,868 civil penalty against ExcelAire (XLS, Islip) for alleged unauthorised charter operations. According to the FAA, ExcelAire operated two flights for compensation or hire after the director of operations had surrendered the company's Part 135 air carrier certificate to the FAA in June 2025. At the time, the operations chief and the rest of the company's required management personnel had resigned. ExcelAire has 30 days to respond after receiving the notice. ch-aviation has contacted the company for comment.
