Gusau, a new airport for the capital of Zamfara State in northwestern Nigeria, has received its first scheduled passenger service, launched by Xejet (4U, Lagos) on October 6, 2026, using an E145, 2x weekly from Abuja, the airline announced.

In a statement, the airline said the new route provides air connectivity to Zamfara, with Gusau serving as a growing centre of commerce and agriculture.

Xejet general manager Hamzat Bukar said the new route supports tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Zamfara and the rest of Nigeria, while strengthening the airline's connections with key local markets.

The airport was formally launched in June 2024, with the first non-commercial aircraft landing reported on March 22, 2026. The airport subsequently underwent regulatory and operational preparation for scheduled flights.

The state government has also indicated plans for routes linking Gusau with Abuja via Sokoto and Kano, reports The Nation Online.

Gusau Airport is located at an elevation of 463 metres above sea level, according to SkyVector. It has a single 1,463-metre-long by 45-metre-wide runway 05/23.
