Riyadh has resumed passenger operations after a two-week pause, despite ongoing attacks by Houthi rebels on the Saudi Arabian capital. The airport reopened with domestic flights on October 25, 2026. ADS-B data shows that international operations resumed the next day with a Saudia flight to Cairo International. flynas restarted its Hyderabad International, Damascus, and Delhi International services on October 28, while Saudia flew to Dubai International. On the morning of October 29, the carrier also resumed its London Heathrow and Hong Kong International routes, among others. The resumption of operations comes just days after authorities said airlines would have to obtain advance permission to use the airport, which had been closed indefinitely due to security fears.

In a related development, Riyadh Air has moved to a temporary base at Gassim, 400km north of the capital, operating services from there to Cairo International, Jeddah International, Dhaka, London Heathrow, Lahore International, and Islamabad International. The carrier had earlier repositioned most of its B787-9s from its Riyadh hub in an effort to protect them in the event of another rebel attack.
