IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) is reportedly in early-stage talks with Embraer to purchase 100 regional jets, with options for around 50 more, Reuters reported on November 4, 2026, citing three people with direct knowledge of the negotiations.

The aircraft type and final quantities have not been decided, nor is a deal guaranteed. Deliveries would likely begin no earlier than 2030, according to two of the sources.

Less than three months earlier, IndiGo denied being in talks with Embraer over regional jets. Responding to an August 2026 Bloomberg report that the carrier was considering purchasing dozens of E2s, an IndiGo spokesperson told ch-aviation that the claims were based on speculation.

According to Reuters, the potential acquisition could allow IndiGo to expand its regional network and replace some of its forty-four ATR72-600s with higher-capacity aircraft. The airline plans to expand its fleet from about 400 aircraft at present to around 600 by 2030.

Embraer has been pursuing sales in India, where it is exploring the establishment of an E175 final assembly line with Adani Defence & Aerospace. As previously reported by ch-aviation, the manufacturer has said the project would depend on securing orders for at least 200 aircraft.

IndiGo Airlines operates a fleet of 417 aircraft, comprising twenty-six A320-200s, 158 A320-200Ns, three A321-200(P2F)s, 182 A321-200NX, four A321-200NY(XLR)s, and forty-four ATR72-600s, ch-aviation data shows.

ch-aviation has reached out to IndiGo and Embraer for comment.
