Aeroméxico (AM, México City International) on August 16 took delivery of its first B787-8 at a ceremony held in México City International. The aircraft, N961AM (msn 35306), is the first of nine 787-8 airplanes that Aeromexico will operate, including five on lease from the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). The airline will operate a total of 19 Dreamliners, including 10 B787-9s ordered last year. Initial 787 operations are expected to begin on September 23 with flights to Monterrey Mariano Escobedo, Tijuana and New York JFK. Long-haul 787 flights to Tokyo Narita, Paris CDG, Buenos Aires Ministro Pistarini, Madrid Barajas and London Heathrow are slated for October though this is subject to change.
