Inter Global de Aviación (Madrid Barajas) and its plans to start direct Asuncion to Madrid Barajas flights later this year could fall through after the Paraguayan National Directorate of Civil Aviation (Dirección Nacional de Aeronautica Civil - DINAC) refuted claims the start-up had been granted rights to operate the route. "No national or international airline has been authorized to operate flights, either scheduled or charter, between Paraguay and Spain," the DINAC said in a statement issued last week. Should flights indeed begin in December as announced, they would be the first direct connections between the two capital cities for twenty years.
