El Al Israel Airlines (LY, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) and other Israeli carriers will resume services to Turkey following a six year hiatus. Transportation Minister Israel Katz said the Turks had accepted Israeli requirements that additional security measures be put in place before flights could resume. The Jerusalem Post says the announcement comes after the the Director General of Israel's Civil Aviation Authority, Giora Romm, and his Turkish counterpart, Bilal Ekşi, signed a revised bilateral air services agreement in Ankara on Tuesday in which provision was made for additional security measures. Flights are set to begin in Summer 2014. At present Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) and Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) enjoy a duopoly on flights between the two countries.
