SpiceJet (SG, Delhi International) has reportedly placed a firm order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for as many as forty-two Boeing 737 MAX, valued at USD4.4billion at list prices. Quoting unnamed sources, Reuters newswire said the loss-making carrier also acquired options for a further forty-two of the type. Neither Boeing nor Spicejet have confirmed the order as yet. The Indian LCC currently operates thirty-six B737-800s, six B737-900s and fifteen DHC-8-400s on flights throughout India and the sub-region, the Gulf states, and South East Asia.
