Citilink (QG, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has inaugurated commercial operations at the newly upgraded Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Airport with flights to Yogyakarta Adisutjipto. The first flight officially touched down on Friday, January 10, 2014. Following the publication of the airport's slot-time schedule, the Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) subsidiary now plans to add flights to Malang, Palembang and Semarang in the near future. Speaking at the inauguration, Indonesia's Deputy Transportation Minister Bambang Susantono told the Jakarta Post that in a bid to ease congestion at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, other carriers including Garuda, Lion Air (JT, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta), Tigerair Mandala (Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) and Batik Air (ID, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) also plan to move some of their domestic flight services to Halim. “We have relocated some flights from Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta in order to reduce the backlog during certain hours because that airport can only handle 64 flights per hour, yet it has to deal with 70 flights per hour,” he said.
