Vincent Aviation (Australia) (Darwin) launched its maiden Sydney Kingsford Smith to Narrabri service on Friday, February 21, signifying the first scheduled flights to operate between the two cities since the collapse of Brindabella Airlines (Canberra) late last year.

"The people of Narrabri have been without an air service to Sydney for two months and this new Vincent Aviation service will provide them with the connectivity they value," Sydney Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kerrie Mather, said.

Transport NSW awarded Vincent Aviation an interim licence to operate the route. The carrier is offering a 5x weekly service onboard one of its four Saab 340Bs.

Meanwhile, Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) has welcomed the decision by Transport NSW to grant it a license to operate on the Moree – Sydney regulated route. Beginning March 22, QantasLink will operate 12 return flights a week via a mix of Dash 8-300 and Dash 8-200 aircraft each week.

Qantas launched immediate short-term relief flights for the Moree community before Christmas last year, following the collapse of Brindabella Airlines, which operated on the route from March 2013.
