Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) took delivery of its first B787-8, C-GHPQ (msn 35257), following its ferry flight from Everett to Toronto Pearson on May 18. The first of fifteen -8s on order from Boeing (BOE, Washington National), the Canadian operator also has twenty-two B787-9s on order and which are scheduled for delivery from 2015 onwards. The twinjets will replace the airline's outgoing fleet of B767-300(ER)s destined to go to its budget subsidiary, Air Canada rouge (RV, Toronto Pearson).
Initial services will include Toronto to Halifax later this month followed by Zurich, London Heathrow, Tokyo Haneda and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion during the months of June and July.
