China Airlines (CI, Taipei Taoyuan) is to relaunch its Taipei Taoyuan to New York JFK non-stop flights on October 2 using a B747-400. While the outbound flight from Taiwan will operate direct, the inbound will operate via Anchorage Ted Stevens for technical reasons. The new non-stop routing replaces its current service between the two airports via Osaka Kansai.

Beginning in February 2015, the 3x weekly service will switch to using one of the Taiwanese carrier's soon-to-be-delivered B777-300ERs and will then operate non-stop in both directions.
