Bassaka Air (Phnom Penh) plans to lease two A320-200s, XU-112 (cn 648) and XU-113 (cn 650), from NagaCorp Ltd, the largest hotel, gaming and leisure operator in Cambodia, to ferry Chinese tourists to the country.

Having recently secured its Aircraft Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Cambodian State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA), Bassaka will offer scheduled flights between China and Phnom Penh with emphasis on the gambling community.

“This is only the first step. We have many more steps to go before we can schedule our flight,” Joseph Stecker, chief executive officer of BA, told the CalvinAyre news site. “The fact is that now we have AOC. Others steps have to take place before we can take flight and I cannot give any specific date.”

Though gambling in itself is illegal in China, Chinese citizens are among the world's most prolific generating an estimated USD25billion in annual revenue for casinos in Hong Kong and Macau.
