China Express Airlines (G5, Chongqing) has moved its operational base from Guiyang to Chongqing the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has announced. The transfer was announced during the presentation of the carrier's new Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) on October 31.
The airline is in the process of being restructured into a low-cost carrier.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that China Express was a previously announced unidentified customer that placed a firm order for sixteen CRJ900 NextGen regional jets with Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) in June. The agreement, which has provision for eight options of the same type, is valued at approximately USD727million at list prices.
China Express currently operates four CRJ200s and eleven CRJ900s on flights to fifty domestic Chinese destinations.
