China United Airlines (KN, Beijing Daxing International) will commence scheduled services to the newly commissioned Hengyang Airport in Hunan Province later this week. According to China's WCARN aviation news portal, initial services will commence on Tuesday, December 23, with a daily China United flight to Beijing Nanyuan to be followed by a 4x weekly China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) service to Shanghai Pudong.
The airport, which replaces the old Hengyang Bajialing airfield closed in 1995, features a 2,600m-long runway and a 6,000sqm terminal building capable of handling 360,000 passengers annually.
