Sparrow Aviation (Stockholm Arlanda) will commence four times weekly scheduled service from Kristianstad via Kalmar to Berlin Tegel. The first flight will take place on March 2 and will be operated with Sparrow´s currently sole aircraft, an E145 chartered from bmi regional (Aberdeen Dyce).

The new service replaces a flight currently offered by its partner bmi regional. The British carrier currently offers flights between Kalmar and Berlin Tegel. On weekdays, they are operated in conjunction with a service from Gothenburg Landvetter to Kalmar onboard an Gothenburg-based E135 while Sunday flights are performed with an ERJ-145 based in Bremen Hans Koschnick that is ferried from/to Berlin Tegel each Sunday. The last bmi regional flight will take place on February 27. The move from bmi regional to Sparrow is probably related with bmi regional's plans to pull out of Gothenburg from where it currently also serves Birmingham, GB and Stavanger.

bmi regional has meanwhile announced earlier this week that it will introduce a stop in Jönköping on its flights from Karlstad to Frankfurt International starting March 1. The route is operated twice a day on weekdays. Due to the new stop, the equipment used on this route will be upgraded from an ERJ-135 to an ERJ-145
