KalStar Aviation (Berau) signed a firm order agreement with Embraer (EMB, São José dos Campos Professor Urbano Ernesto Stumpf) for five E190-E2s with purchase rights for an additional five airframes of the same type at the 2016 Farnborough Airshow. The aircraft are scheduled to begin arriving during the first quarter of 2020.

“We are looking forward to the enhanced performance and economics that the E190-E2 brings, while still maintaining a high level of cockpit commonality with the existing E-Jets. This means an easy transition for our pilots when they operate both the current E-Jets and the E-Jets E2,” Andi Masyhur, CEO Kalstar Aviation, said. “Passenger feedback on the existing E-Jets we operate has been very positive and we look forward to impressing them further with the new E190-E2 in the coming years.”

Established in 2007, Kalstar Aviation operates regular passenger flights through the Indonesian province of Kalimantan – an area known for mining and agriculture. The airline's fleet currently consists of three ATR42-300s, one ATR42-500, two ATR72-500s, three ATR72-600s, one B737-300, one B737-500, one E190LR, and two E195s.
