PIA - Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad International) is planning to transition the A330-300s it is in the process of wet-leasing from SriLankan Airlines (UL, Colombo International), to dry-lease.
Airline spokesman Samir Nizami told The News that the state-owned national carrier is in the process of training up its crews to take over command of the aircraft.
“With the passage of time, our own personnel will be trained on new aircraft and subsequently all such planes will be converted into dry lease,” he said. “More aircraft will be acquired on dry lease.”
PIA has so far taken delivery of one A330-300 - 4R-ALN (cn 1604) - which it uses on its Premier services from Islamabad International and Lahore International to London Heathrow. A further two A330s - 4R-ALL (cn 1564) and 4R-ALM (cn 1583) - are expected to arrive in 2017.
