JetSMART (JA, Santiago de Chile) will commence international services with effect from December 20, 2017, onwards. According to the Chilean ultra-low-cost-carrier, flights from Santiago de Chile to Lima International, Peru will operate 4x weekly using A320-200 equipment.
Operational since July of this year, JetSMART currently serves the Chilean cities of Santiago, Antofagasta, Concepcion Carriel Sur, La Serena, Calama, Puerto Montt International, Temuco La Araucanía, and Copiapó Desierto de Atacama using three A320-200s. A further six A320-200s are expected to arrive in 2018 suggesting JetSMART plans to further expand its international coverage although this is dependent on the route authorities granted to it.
Looking forward, the Indigo Partners-owned budget carrier recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Airbus for fifty-six A320neo and fourteen A321neo.
"JetSMART has fulfilled every step of its plan," Chief Executive Officer Estuardo Ortiz said in a statement. "We have come to evolve and revolutionize the South American aviation market and in Chile, it is already becoming reality. Our vision is to have more than 100 aircraft in 2026 and transport more than 100 million passengers."
