Silver Air (United States of America) (SIS, Fresno Yosemite) has notified the US Department of Transportation (DOT) of its intention to add a B737-700 BBJ and requested a change in its certification from an air taxi company to a certified air carrier.

The airline intends to add an aircraft registered as N834BZ (msn 29102), owned by JetForce V LLC and last used by First Virtual Air (San José, US). According to the ch-aviation aircraft module, the airframe is currently temporarily stored and undergoing maintenance at San Antonio International.

Silver Air plans to use the aircraft to operate ad-hoc charter flights and base it at Van Nuys airport.

According to the DOT filing, the company currently operates a fleet of five Cessna Aircraft Company 750 Citation Xs, two Cessna 525s, one Cessna 560, two Embraer Phenom 100s, one Falcon 2000, three Gulfstream IV, one Gulfstream G200, one Bombardier Aerospace Learjet 60, one PA-46, one Challenger 300 and one Challenger 604.

The airline has also applied for the authority to engage in foreign air charter transportation of persons, property and mail with a large aircraft. Scott Aviation, a subsidiary of Silver Air, has concurrently applied for authority to engage in interstate charter air transportation with a large aircraft.
