Jat Airways (Belgrade Nikola Tesla) is reportedly planning to lay off up to 30% of its workforce later this year as part of a restructuring plan that is supposed to bring the carrier back to profitability that also includes an additional 10 million EUR investment from the Serbian government and plans to lease four new aircraft towards the end of 2009. It will resume several routes it had previously suspended: Belgrade-Gothenburg Landvetter: 2x weekly seasonal B737-300 service between June 16 and September 11 Belgrade-Malta-Tripoli: 2x weekly B737-300 service resuming on March 30 Belgrade-Ohrid: twice weekly ATR 72-200 service resuming on June 1 It has however given up its route to Dubai on February 2 after its interline partner Emirates (EK/Dubai) has increased through fares for travel between Serbia and Australia via Dubai and is now considering a new service to Abu Dhabi and an interline relationship with Etihad Airways (EY/Abu Dhabi) instead.
