Blue 1 (Helsinki Vantaa) has taken delivery of the first of 14 ex-Quantum Air and ex-Spanair (JK/Palma de Mallorca) B717-200s that are scheduled to replace its MD-90-30 fleet and some of its ARJ-85s. It has wet-leased two Saab 2000s from Golden Air (DC/Trollhattan) for its routes from Stockholm Arlanda to Tampere, Turku and Vaasa replacing ATR 72-200s previously wet-leased from DAT – Danish Air Transport (DX/Vamdrup). Blue 1 will also wet-lease two brand new ATR 72-500s that will be delivered to Golden Air later this year. It is introducing new routes this fall: Helsinki-Amsterdam: 2x daily B717-200 service resuming on January 31, 2011 Helsinki-Munich: daily B717-200 service starting on September 13 Oulu-Stockholm Arlanda: 5x weekly ATR 72-500 service starting on November 1 (operated by Golden Air) Stockholm Arlanda-Kalmar: 3x daily ATR 72-500 service starting on September 1 (operated by Golden Air, route transferred from parent SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK/Copenhagen Kastrup)) The seasonal Kittilä-Dusseldorf Intl route shortly operated last winter season will not be resumed in early 2011. Blue 1 will also temporarily give up its Helsinki-Barcelona and Helsinki-Milan Malpensa routes on October 30.
