Air France (AF, Paris CDG) has given up plans for a new domestic low-cost carrier but is now planning to set-up several regional bases with A320 family aircraft and point to point services to be able to compete with low-cost carriers operating in France. Marseilles will be its first regional base with Nice and Toulouse expected to be the next two bases for the new operation but no further details are known at this point. Air France has also announced plans to retire its last B747-400s by 2016. In addition, it is now also codesharing with Rossiya (FV/St. Petersburg) on the Paris CDG-St. Petersburg route served by both Air France and Rossiya as well as with AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines (J2/Baku) on the Paris CDG-Baku services operated by AZAL. It has however terminated its codeshare agreement with Baboo (F7/Geneva) on March 27.
