Nok Air (DD, Bangkok Don Mueang) has placed its first three ex-Air Europa (UX, Palma de Mallorca) and ex-Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) B737-800s into service as a first step of its fleet renewal plans. The domestic low-cost carrier currently operates from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi instead of its homebase at Bangkok Don Mueang that is still closed for commercial airline operations following the massive flooding in the area in fall 2011. It plans to move back to Don Mueang on March 6. The Thai government is also preparing a plan that would see Don Mueang being reopened to international flights given the current congestion issues at Suvarnabhumi. It aims to ask several international low-cost carriers serving Bangkok to relocate back to the old airport.
