US's GLOBALX takes first A321-200(P2F)
26.01.2023 - 19:50 UTCGLOBALX (G6, Miami International) took delivery of its first A321-200(P2F) on January 24, 2023, a few weeks behind schedule.
N410GX (msn 1199) was ferried from Kansas City International to Miami International after earlier conversion at San Antonio International. The carrier's second freighter, A321-200(PCF) N1438 (msn 1438), has already been converted but requires additional modification to secure FAA compliance. GLOBALX's second A321-200(P2F), N1207A (msn 1207), is undergoing maintenance at Montpellier, the ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows.
The carrier's first freighter will join the fleet of eight in-house passenger aircraft, including six A320-200s and two A321-200s. 14.11.2022 - 01:10 UTCNorthern Territory Air Services (Alice Springs) (NTAS) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for 20 all-electric Alice commuter aircraft currently under development by Israeli-US manufacturer Eviation. No delivery date has been disclosed.
Based in Alice Springs, NTAS hopes the Eviation Alice will enable it to provide sustainable point-to-point air transport in the Northern Territory of the Australian Outback. The company has prioritised adopting carbon-free and sustainable technologies and is working with various stakeholders to support the introduction of all-electric flights.
"Australia is recognised around the world for its breathtaking scenery, and adopting carbon-free technologies is fundamental to preserving the environment for future generations," NTAS Chief Executive Officer Ian Scheyer explained in a statement. "Eviation's all-electric Alice aircraft allows us to chart a sustainable path forward in connecting communities across the country. With the adoption of...
US's GLOBALX eyes European AOC, weighs B717s
08.11.2022 - 18:39 UTCGLOBALX (G6, Miami International) is studying all available options for the setting up of an Air Operator's Certificate in an undisclosed European country to grow its long-term ACMI cooperation with TUI Group carriers, Chairman and Chief Executive Ed Wegel said during a quarterly investor call.
"We're analysing that and discussing that with [TUI] to see if that makes sense. We're looking at the cost of that, but there is an opportunity to greatly expand our relationship with TUI in terms of the number of aircraft that we operate for them and, obviously, the revenue base," he said.
The American charter/ACMI specialist debuted operations in Europe during the summer of 2022 by wet leasing a single A320-200 to TUI fly (Netherlands) (OR, Amsterdam Schiphol). However, the contract was cut short when, despite assurances from the Dutch airline, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) objected to the contract given GLOBALX's lack of an EU Third Country Operator (TCO) authorisation.
GLOBALX emphasised that the Dutch tour operator airline paid for the...
