FlyArmenia Airways (Yerevan) has rebranded as Hayways (HYY, Yerevan) to reflect its "new strategy and development policies", the carrier said.

The Armenian start-up did not reveal any further details of its planned launch under the new brand. While its website has already been updated to reflect the new name, it said a formal presentation to the public would take place at a later point in time.

FlyArmenia Airways originally planned to launch in December 2020. However, after a series of hiccups concerning its initial ambitions - including the alleged hijacking of its B737-300 to Iran and the subsequent return of the aircraft to Armenia under highly politicised circumstances - the carrier changed its plans in mid-2021. It voluntarily suspended its Air Operator's Certificate pending the delivery of "several" B737-800s scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2021.

The carrier did not respond to ch-aviation's request for added colour on its revised launch plans.
