German tour operator TUI has announced it will base an A320-200, chartered from European Air Charter (H6, Sofia) (formerly Bulgarian Air Charter), at Friedrichshafen airport in southern Germany for the Summer 2022 season.

The leisure specialist will launch its Friedrichshafen services from July 9 with scheduled charters to Palma de Mallorca, Heraklion, and Rhodes (which used to be served with aircraft based out of other airports), as well as new destinations Kos Hippocrates and Burgas.

Friedrichshafen is located on Lake Constance (Bodensee in German) and serves not just Germany but also parts of Switzerland and western Austria. Currently, the only airline with a crew base at the airport is Sun-Air (EZ, Billund), the ch-aviation PRO airports module shows.

European Air Charter operates seven A320-200s and nine MD-82s. No TUI Group carriers, whether in Germany or any other country, operate any in-house Airbus aircraft, the ch-aviation fleets module highlights.
