Indonesia's Rimbun Air eyes B737NG freighters
27.01.2022 - 23:21 UTCRimbun Air (Fak Fak) is planning to expand its fleet of B737 freighters from the current two, to five by the end of 2022, possibly through the addition of its first B737NG jets, Cargo Facts has reported.
The Indonesian cargo specialist currently operates a single B737-300(F) - PK-OTK (msn 26288) - which is ex-China Postal Airlines (CF, Nanjing) stock and which became Rimbun Air's first dedicated freighter when it joined in March 2021. The airline has already acquired sistership B-2661 (msn 26284), which was ferried to Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta on January 20, 2022, but has yet to be deployed into revenue service.
Going forward, the airline plans to add another three B737 freighters by the end of the year and is in talks with several lessors concerning B737-800 converted freighters due to the scarcity of available B737 Classics on the market. It did not reveal any further details about the exact variant or whether the forthcoming orders would entail B737NGs only or a mix of NGs and Classics....
