Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf) took delivery of its first A320-200N on April 1, 2022. D-AENA (msn 10758) was ferried directly from Toulouse Blagnac to Düsseldorf but has yet to be deployed into revenue service.

The low-cost carrier initially scheduled the type's commercial debut for March 27. However, post delivery, it said it still had some final pre-induction maintenance to perform, which is expected to take "several weeks". The ch-aviation schedules module indicates that the current plan is to begin revenue A320neo operations on June 1. Eurowings clarified that while the debut was planned for early June, the current schedule was still tentative.

Eurowings' A320-200Ns will seat up to 180 passengers in a single-class configuration and are powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines. All other A320neo Family aircraft operated by Lufthansa Group are outfitted with Pratt & Whitney powerplants.

The LCC announced in April 2021 that it would add A320neo Family aircraft to cope with pent-up leisure demand. It later clarified that it would add at least thirteen aircraft, including eight A320neo and five A321neo (with the latter due to start delivering in 2023).

"A total of seven A320neo planes will be added to the fleet in 2022, another one in 2024, and five Airbus A321neo aircraft will be delivered to Eurowings over the course of 2023," Eurowings told ch-aviation in a statement.

Besides Eurowings, other Lufthansa Group units operating A320neo Family narrowbodies include Lufthansa and Swiss (both with A320-200Ns and A321-200NXs). Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines are scheduled to take their first A320-200Ns in the second half of 2022 and in 2023, respectively.
