easyJet (London Luton) launches 12 new routes from Lisbon this winter following the allocation of 18 daily slots at the airport by the European Commission, its latest schedules reveal.
The slot allocation form part of the EUR1.2 billion euros (USD1.2 billion) state rescue package for TAP Air Portugal (TP, Lisbon), under which terms the Portuguese flag carrier had to give up 18 slots at Lisbon under European Union competition rules.
In July, easyJet announced it would station three additional A321-200Ns at Lisbon, bringing the total number of aircraft based at the airport to nine.
The new routes and launch dates from Lisbon this winter are:
- October 30: 5x weekly to Barcelona El Prat (Spain); 3x weekly to Milan Bergamo (Italy); 2x weekly to Bilbao (Spain); and 4x weekly to Zurich (Switzerland);
- October 31: 2x weekly to Fuerteventura and 2x weekly Gran Canaria (Spain); 2x weekly to Marrakech (Morocco); and 5x weekly to Marseilles (France);

- November 2: 2x weekly to Birmingham, GB (UK); and 2x weekly to Tenerife Sur (Spain).
These are in addition to the five routes to the United Kingdom, which Easyjet already serves from Lisbon: Bristol International, Edinburgh, London Gatwick, London Luton, and Manchester International.
