India's Go First outlines flight restart plan
08.06.2023 - 22:45 UTCGo First (G8, Mumbai International) has told India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that it will cost INR2 billion rupees (USD24.2 million) to restart operations using 22 aircraft and running 152 daily flights, according to a Business Standard report.
Unnamed Go First executives have briefed that outlet, saying that the airline had submitted its restart plan to the DGCA and retained the resources to operate up to 26 aircraft. Before it stopped flying, the airline had 54 aircraft in its fleet, albeit many parked, and operated around 200 daily flights. Go First reportedly retains 340 pilots, 680 cabin crew, and 530 engineers on its payroll. Go First suspended all flights on May 3, owing banks INR65.21 billion (USD789.3 million), lessors INR26.6 billion (USD322 million), and suppliers INR12.02 billion (USD145.4 million).
Global consulting firm Alvarez and Marsal are handling Go First's insolvency process and have told the DGCA that the airline requires INR2 billion in funding to restart, adding that the carrier is in talks with lenders about securing this. There is also...
CSA Czech Airlines to lease four A220-300s from ALC
08.06.2023 - 15:22 UTCCSA Czech Airlines (OK, Prague Václav Havel) will lease four A220-300s from Air Lease Corporation, having terminated an earlier 2021 commitment with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for the same number of those aircraft.
The lessor said all four A220s will deliver in 2024 and are sourced from its order book.
"These ALC A220s will greatly enhance our airline's operational strength as we modernise our fleet with highly efficient and environmentally friendly single-aisle aircraft. Czech Airlines is pleased to launch the cooperation with the ALC team at the time we celebrate our 100th anniversary in October 2023. Thanks to a brand-new cabin configuration, the aircraft offers best-in-class comfort for short- and medium-haul flights," Chairman Petr Kudela said.
The Czech flag carrier, currently owned by Smartwings Group, ordered four A220s directly from Airbus in 2019 but nixed them two years later, when it was in bankruptcy protection. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic ended, CSA indicated in late 2022 that it would seek to revive its A220 plans.
