Türkiye's AJet to launch as standalone airline in late 1Q24
27.11.2023 - 06:02 UTCAJet Air Transportation, the rebranded AnadoluJet (TK, Ankara Esenboga), will launch as a standalone carrier at the end of March 2024. The low-cost carrier will remain a wholly-owned subsidiary of Turkish Airlines.
The Turkish flag carrier unveiled the future branding of the new unit during an event on November 24. The first A321-200NX, TC-LUC (msn 10275), has already been repainted into the new livery, although it has yet to re-enter revenue service.
"The efforts and dedication we have put in for a long time have paid off, and we will introduce AJet to the skies with the summer schedule at the end of March 2024. We fully believe that AJet, with its new name, will become an important part of the low-cost aviation industry on a global scale," said Turkish Airlines' chairman of the board and executive committee, Ahmet Bolat.
The launch as a standalone carrier with its own Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) will not affect the carrier's current network. It will remain based out of Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen and Ankara...

25.10.2023 - 08:51 UTCTurkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) has signed a lease with AerCap covering three B787-9s and twenty-five B737-8s. All aircraft will deliver between 2024 and 2026 and will be contracted for 12 years.
The airline simultaneously extended its lease agreement for six A330-200s from the same company.
Turkish Airlines is adding incremental leases to secure its future fleet growth ahead of an anticipated order for up to 600 aircraft to placed directly from the manufacturers.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that Turkish Airlines already operates twenty B787-9s and has five more on order from Boeing. Its B737 MAX fleet currently comprises twenty-seven B737-8s (including seven operated by the AnadoluJet division) and five B737-9s. It has no more direct orders for any B737 MAX variants but will be adding at least six -8s from CDB Aviation.
AerCap currently dry-leases 12 aircraft to the Turkish flag carrier: one A321-200NX, the six now-extended A330-200s, three B737-800s, and two B777-300(ER)s, according to the ch-aviation...

Türkiye's AnadoluJet to complete certification by 2Q24
16.08.2023 - 07:49 UTCTurkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) aims to complete the certification of AnadoluJet (TK, Ankara Esenboga) by the Summer 2024 season, when the low-cost carrier will begin operating as a separate entity, Chief Financial Officer Murat Seker said during a quarterly earnings call.
The Turkish flag carrier incorporated AJet Hava Taşımacılığı Anonim Şirketi as a new, wholly-owned subsidiary on August 7, 2023. Until now, AnadoluJet was a division of Turkish Airlines with no separate corporate identity. Seker said that the group would announce the branding of the carrier as a stand-alone firm in the coming months. Turkish Airlines' quarterly investor presentation included AnadoluJet's existing logo.
AnadoluJet will apply for its own Air Operator's Certificate and Operating Licence shortly.
Even though the division already operates 69 aircraft and has its own staff, certification would nonetheless involve drawing up new procedures and manuals.
Turkish Airlines is betting heavily on AnadoluJet, a carrier targeting budget-conscious passengers and ethnic traffic, as an engine for regional growth. It plans to increase the division's fleet to 88 aircraft...
