Maastricht Airlines (Maastricht) staff have launched a "crowd funding" initiative to help relaunch the beleaguered carrier, infamous for having gone bankrupt without a single flight ever having been flown. The airline, which was to be based at Maastricht Airport, planned to begin flights in March but that was postponed due to the late delivery of its Fokker 50 fleet, lack of forward bookings and a delay in the agreement of working terms and conditions with staff. Following the delay, one of the biggest private investors pulled out leading to the staff announcing their crowdfunding drive, dubbed "We Believe We Can Fly." The funding drive has the approval of curator, Mr. John Huppertz, who expressed optimism at the airline's future prospects given a relaunch. Staff members who argue that saving the airline will help save not only their sixty jobs, but also help contribute to Maastricht's business. The campaign ends on July 10, 2013.
