Mexicana (1921) (México City International) has asked a Mexican court not to declare it bankrupt after the carrier revealed that a new investor had approached it with the view of resuming operations. According to Mexico's En los Tiempos de la Radio, the unnamed investor is willing to invest USD600million into the airline. The Bankruptcy hearing was due to be held on February 7. Since suspending operations in 2010 on the back of USD125million in outstanding debts and labour costs, a number of entities namely the Mexican government, Spanish hotel and air transport group, Med Atlantica, and Monterrey-based investment firm, Grupo Fides Gestión Financiera, have attempted to get the airline back on its feet but to no avail.
