North Shore Air (North Shore) has abandoned scheduled passenger operations roughly a month after they launched on September 28. CEO Peter Newman told 3rd Level New Zealand that 2x daily flights from its Auckland North Shore base to Kerikeri and Tauranga had failed to garner enough demand.
“Our scheduled flights never got the numbers required to break even, so basically it's all gone a bit pear shaped," he said. “But there's no easy way. It was either pull out while we could manage an exit, or wait until we hit the wall.”
The start-up has since reverted to charter operations proffering its sole aircraft - Piper (twin piston) PA31 Navajo ZK-JGA (cn 31-7612102) - to the market.
