TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hanover) is set to wind down its Hamburg Helmut Schmidt operations ahead of the start of the Summer 2016 high season.

Quoting company sources, the Hamburger Abendblatt newspaper says the leisure carrier will shortly withdraw its only aircraft stationed in Hamburg in light of increased competition from LCCs such as germanwings (4U, Cologne/Bonn), Eurowings (EW, Düsseldorf Int'l), easyJet (U2, London Luton) and Ryanair (FR, Dublin Int'l).

TUIfly's Hamburg operations currently entail flights to Boa Vista Rabil Int'l, Dubrovnik, Fuerteventura, Jerez de la Frontera, Las Palmas, Malta Int'l, Palma Son Sant Joan, Sal Amilcar Cabral Int'l, and Tenerife Sur.
