United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) has announced it will terminate its 6x weekly New York Newark-Newcastle, GB return service with effect from September 6.

In a statement, the carrier said the route, launched in 2014, was no longer profitable adding that it expected an "impact of the weaker pound in UK outbound travel".

Following the United Kingdom's vote in favour of leaving the European Union (EU) in June, the pound has lost more than 13% of its value against the US dollar.
